Khermen Tsav

The next wonder of the Mongolian Gobi is Khermen Tsav, an impressive red mud cliff. This eye-catching rocky formation of Khermen Tsav, is 250km away from Khongoryn Els sand dunes and 450km from Dalanzadgad, is located in the north of the Gurvantes village, in the extreme Northwest of the Omnogobi.  Along the way, you will travel to such beautiful places as Zulganai, Narandaats, and Gurvan Tes. 
Khermen Tsav means in English “cracked wall”. If you observe Khermen Tsav from a certain distance, it resembles the well-designed red brick buildings of the ancient city. The colors are a gradation of reds and will delight the photographers. Khermen Tsav is more than 10 km long, 100-200 m deep.
This beautiful but difficult living condition for humans and animals is listed in one of the 9 wonders of Umnugovi aimag and Mongolia due to its beautiful area with an oasis of elm, poplar, and pine trees nearby.

The discovery of ancient dinosaurs, mammals, insects, birds, turtles, crocodiles, lake animals, and many species of plants confirms that the Mongolian Gobi is one of the most dinosaur-rich areas in the world. It is said that 200 million years ago, the area of Khermen Tsav was covered with an inner sea. The American archaeologist Roy Chapman Andrews named this place "The end of the World". Khermen Tsav is famous for its natural beauties, as well as for its bountiful underground fossils of dinosaurs. The scientists fully agree with 200 million years ago; the place was covered with an inner sea. Even though it is an isolated area, I’m sure no one regrets visiting this place.
