Dog sledding in Mongolia

Dog sledding is a good chance to experience beautiful Mongolian winter. Traditionally dogs are effective guardians of nomad’s livestock and good companion of nomads. While today’s dog sledding is a relatively new practice. The nearest available place for dog sledding is on the river of Terelj in Terelj National Park. It takes just an hour to reach the dog sledding camp from Ulaanbaatar. 

Dog sledding activity is available from November until March when there is enough thick ice on the river to slide on. 

Some good things to know before the dog sledding:

• Keep some distance from the team in front of you
• Never leave your team before your sled has been secured by the guide.
• Try not to stop suddenly withour any good reason, dogs are a pack and will get upset and stressed if you decide to stop somewhere on the route
• Children under 14 will sit in the sled
