Khorgo Terkhiin Tsagaan Lake National Park was set up to protect the eye-catching mountain scenery, mesmerizing Terkhiin Tsagaan Lake, and rare, endangered species of flora & fauna since 1965. It's covered by the Khangai Mountains, which located at an altitude of 3000 meters. It is located in Tariat sum, Arkhangai province, and 580 km northwest of Ulaanbaatar. There are a diversity of animals such as wolves, wild boar ruddy shell duck, geese, red deer, Siberian deer, wild bear, great Cormorant, and other animals, as well as various kinds of birds.

Terkhiin Tsagaan lake (Terkh White Lake)
This mesmerizing, crystal clear, freshwater lake is located in Tariat soum, Arkhangai province, and 180km far away from Tsetserleg town and 660km from Ulaanbaatar. Terkhiin Tsagaan Lake is 16 kilometers in length, 20 meters in-depth, and 61 square kilometers in this area and is located 2.060 meters (1,28 miles) above sea level. The reason for the presence of the lake is the eruption of Khorgo Volcano. An immense mass of white-hot lava once blocked the bed of the River Terkh and its water created Terkh lake.
There are more than 10 rivers flowing into this lake, the largest of which is the Terkhiin river. The only river that flows out is the Suman River. It flows for about 50 kilometers and empties into the Chuluut River. In the middle of the lake, there is a volcanic Island is covered with nests made of the fragrant grass Sam Khan.
Khorgo extinct volcano
Khorgo Volcano is an extinct volcano, situated 2240 meters above sea level (1,39 mile), located 4km east of Terkhiin Tsagaan lake. The width is almost 200 meters (656,17 feet) and the depth is 70 to 80 meters (229,66 – 262,47 feet). Because of volcanic eruption, nature has very unique formation. One of them was a deep ground cave with ice inside, which is called "Yellow dog's hell".

Once upon a time, before the Lake was originated, the place with good grassland and amazing steppe was being. There was a well and supply with fresh water people who used to live near the territory. One day, an elderly couple forgot to close the lip of the well after they fetched water. But the water from the cistern flooded the valley and Terkhiin Tsagaan Lake was created.
